There is a very long list of reasons why I love being part of the health and fitness world, one of them being the opportunity to associate and become friends with truly inspiring people who remind me how important this quest to health really is.
Anyone who has stepped on the road to improving themselves knows there are good days and bad days; days when you’re on fire and can’t wait to work out or you say no to that Kit Kat without thinking twice. But along with that comes an inevitable flip side: times when life and its requirements overwhelm, and exhaustion threatens to reduce ambition to apathy. I know I feel these waves on a regular basis, and I am so grateful for friends and role models who help me refocus, recharge and jump back in the game.
I had one of those needed recharging days a few weeks ago when I had the great pleasure of photographing a dear friend and fitness coach.
Carrie is a powerhouse mom of two and fellow health nut who, in addition to home and family life, coaches fitness groups and works out at home—requiring the kind of laser-focused determination I can only dream of. We became friends long before I moved to the area or ever met each other in person, chatting on Facebook about all things healthy and hitting it off immediately. We share a mutual love of self-improvement, nutrition, and girl-power, not to mention high-quality dark chocolate. And seriously, you just can't go wrong with that kind of a friendship foundation.
She’s seriously amazing.
